Can someone have unusual sensations and dreams if they are having a heart attack or some medical emergency?
I have heard of some of these so called testimonies of people entering into some horrible afterlife, and claim that they had some divine vision. A Jehovahs Witness told me that these events were the results of Chemicals reacting abnormally in the brain.

yes, they can, due to bizarre brain wavesReferences : doc

  • Dr. B:

When the brain is not getting enough blood, then hallucinations can occur. Many scientist believe this is the medical reason for so called "near death experiences" which I think you are referring to. This would not occur with a heart attack per se, but from a cardiac arrest when the heart stops functioning completely. Specifically it is lack of oxygen to the brain that produces these type of hallucinations. Personally, I don't think this relates to religion at all, but everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.References : Physician
