21 years old, suffering from mysterious mid-low back pain for 8 months constant. Got worse instant, still goin?Story: So I lift boxes a lot, or used to since this whole thing started. I lifted poorly for a while before i learned about key techniques that i now perform daily. I sat in a tilted (to the left) chair for 2 months before the pain started while in the chair, then immediately stopped using the chair. I Still feel it today, and still I don't know wrong.
Pain: Pain scale 1-10, 2-3 on good times, 4-5 on bad. Its in the thoracolumbar area, docs say its betwean l1-l2 or possibly l1-t12. Its sharp and stingy. Although it is constant, there are times when it is less aggrivated and I feel as though I'm actually healing, but at a depressingly slow rate. It feels as though the pain is in unision with many things like: Stress(not bad stress, im a pretty positive guy), bearing weight(heavy jacket, 25+lb box), sitting on hard surfaces with bad/no back support, standing on hard surfaces. When I stand for a while it feels like the muscle/tendon/ligament is "tugging" from below the very bottom left rib, down 2 vertibre. I feel it on both the front and back of the left side of my spine. Sometimes this "tug" will send a senation compleately down my butt, like its traveling through/adjacent to my spine. When its aggrivated, which is at random times of the week and day, it feels like a really bad strain. Theres a burn, mixed with a sharp ache that is focal around the left side of my spine. During its aggrivated stages people have told me it felt swollen, and it feels good it have it rubbed, but pressure adds disturbing sensations. Often times when its aggrivated it feels like someone is pressing with 1 finger on the Front/left surface side of my spine.
What I did about it: When it first came on it felt horrible, i could hardly walk without sending disturbing sensations all throughout my lower spine. After XRays docs concluded it was a thoratic strain. I rested for a while and took it easy, did yoga stretches and felt better. Did chiropractics simultaniously with physical therapy for 2 months about 1-2 weeks after the pain occured. Also went back to work, but stayed at a 10lb maximum. At the end of physical therapy I had very little results(i didn't slack). Did more chiropractics, then gave that up after a few months as i saw no effect. Got a lumbar MRI and they concluded that my back was fine, and assured me they looked above the lumbar as well. Now after 5/6 months I decide to try acupuncture and massasge therapy. Got no avail there either but they helped me understand the effects of stress on the back. So I try just keeping good posture, getting superfeet to keep good footing. Then I realize my right foot, big toe joint is hurting. Thats a whole 'nother thing. So I exercise and maintain stretching routines, but the pain still attacks, and subdues, and never truly fades. Thus far the Only medical/herbal thing that has helped a considerable ammount is marijuana, seriously. I've also had cupping done, that reveiled that I had a lot more blood in the area that hurt than anywhere else. After that I went a to a rhumetolegist and they said I was fine and recommended I tried switching my sitting chair with an exercise ball. Been doing so ever since. They also recommended that I do exercises that i've never done before, with the ball, specific for the muscles im having trouble with. I also got the machine "Back2Life" simultanious with the ball, and began using it as needed (started 3-4 times, then felt 1-2 was fine). It feels great and really stimulates the area, and the ball exercises seam to help too, yet after a few months of all my changes, im still getting this pain and soreness and tugging sensations, never feeling better than 80%. Im wondering If im just getting too cocky at work when it comes to the 25+lb packages, yet with an MRI saying im okay, docs wont restrict me. Luckily my work has been nice and letting me continue staying at a 25 max, I still on occassion lift heavier, but never ever 40+. I got an appointment on monday with a doctor to see about what i do next.
Foot problem: Now, after 2-3 months of feeling sore, my right big toe snaps at the joint, along the ball of the foot, which feels like im stepping on a tac. it's only when im putting weight on it and extending my big toe. Kinda gives me a limp, one doctor thinks it may be causing some back stress. Podiatrist doesnt know what it is, and wants me to get an MRI =X
So now the back is hurting the same, I know i'm a whiner, but im just wondering what the heck is wrong heh. If anyone knows, or has a guess, id love to hear it. Thanks for reading!
could be multiple things wrong. If you are having foot problems, that can severly affect the back. I would recomend some custom made orthotics to give your back some support and allleviate your foot pain, most chiropractors and podiatrists can help you. you could also have a chronic strain that won't heal. You shoudl investigate Manipulation under anesthesia to help alleviate that, after you have orthotics and some more tests done. Check out the link on my website that will give you more information on that, http://www.villagefamilychiro.com click on manipulation under anesthesia on top left, let me knowReferences :
